What is a CCAP?
A Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) is a narrative report that provides an overview of the Tribe or Territory’s significant GHG sources/sinks and sectors, establishes near-term and long-term GHG emission reduction goals, and provides strategies and identifies measures that address the highest priority sectors to help the Tribe or Territory meet those goals.
In addition to identifying goals, Tribes have used CCAPS to access relevant funding opportunities to work towards implementation.
What is required to participate?
ATNI is committed to strengthening the capacity and supporting the development, protection and advancement of the interests of member Tribes and their people. As such, ATNI is providing direct technical assistance from a contracted specialist to aid Tribes in completing and publishing their own Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP). Tribal leadership and staff time will be required to ensure the CCAP best represents the experiences and goals of each Tribe. The ATNI contractor and project manager will hold regular meetings to build relationships and provide technical expertise throughout the project scope to draft the Tribe's CCAP.
ATNI member Tribes that would like to partner with ATNI and receive this additional capacity to meet their GHG emission goals can fill out this interest form.
As of February 25, EPA's Climate Pollution Grants are no longer frozen. ATNI is currently able to access the awarded funds and move forward with Phase 2 of the CPRG.
We recognize that other federal funds and climate-related opportunities are uncertain in the current administration, however we hope that participation in the CCAP will help Tribes carry forward momentum for future endeavors.
