One of the primary components of The Atlanta Police Foundation's Secure Neighborhoods Program is its new home construction. For years, APF has partnered with local builders to construct and sell new homes to officers within the English Avenue and Vine City neighborhoods. The primary purpose for doing this is to reduce crime by strengthening the bonds between the APD and those it serves. Neighbors working together for the good of a community and the the good of a police department. Qualified Atlanta Police officers may apply to the program and purchase a home in exchange for committing to serve as a community ambassador for five years. Evidence has shown that police officer residency can directly impact neighborhood crime, especially when that residency falls within the jurisdiction they're sworn to serve.
