All active, sworn APD police officers in good departmental standing are eligible to apply for the program. Acceptance into the program is governed by APD's Community Policing Commander and all participants must comply with program rules.
APF is a nonprofit organization with a mission aimed at making Atlanta a safer city. It works in partnership with public and private entities in an effort to aid public safety.
A courtesy officer is a sworn police officer who agrees to receive reduced rent at a specific apartment complex in exchange for performing off-duty security services at that complex. APF is interested in partnering with local property managers and builders so to add inventory to its courtesy officer portfolio. No. The Atlanta Police Department has sole discretion over which officers are assigned take home cars and several factors go into those decisions. Although both APD and APF continue to seek ways to prioritize vehicle assignments for participating Secure Neighborhood officers, no guarantee exists.
