Last August 9, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School’s turn to make history with its pioneering co-ed batch of Grade 7 learners. More than 2,100 students trooped to the AJHS campus this morning for the first official day of the new school year, among them 696 Grade 7 students, 161 of whom are AJHS’ first ever cohort of girls. The milestone event comes a week after Ateneo de Manila Grade School welcomed girls to Kindergarten and Grade 1 for the first time.

Prior to the official start of AJHS classes for SY 2024-2025, the grade 7 newbies had two days of orientations on August 7 & 8. Dubbed “MAGISing,” the orientations prepared the community’s youngest learners for life in their new school through a series of talks by members of the Administrative team (A-team), faculty, and even student leaders. There were also activities like a campus tour and an org fair that were organized by faculty and student leaders as well. The closing activity of the orientation was a well-received variety show which featured talented faculty and student performers.
