Creating Art with Code
When I finished this module I developed a new form of respect for the art of coding. I've never had any formal training or experience using coding before, so I really didn't know what I was getting myself into? I am so glad I kept an open mind and didn't let my lack of knowledge create fear that I would be unable to learn it much less even try to use it. However, I was surprised that it was not as difficult as I had originally anticipated because I think and create in a logical sense. So for me, coding was like building and tearing apart a puzzle piece by piece. Just like in a puzzle, it starts with that one piece, which fits into another piece, then another piece and so on and so on until you create the final picture. This was the same experience I had with coding. The art of coding also reminds me of the tile based game Mahjong, a game of skill, strategy, and luck. If I found myself getting lost in the coding maze, I just simply and carefully retraced my steps backwards to where I took the wrong turn, put back that piece of the puzzle that didn't fit, and patiently add the piece that did. While, I do not consider myself to be a coding expert at this point nor a computer science whiz, I do feel like I now understand the basic building blocks to coding. I also plan on learning more about coding by taking additional computer coding courses. I believe this technology is and will continue to be a valuable asset in terms of teaching, medicine, computer science, and in the mechanics of the modern business world. I never would have guessed that coding would also play such an active role in creating art, but I cannot wait to see what evolves next.
