A Dual Focus on Process and Outcomes
The work of the Reimagining Arctic Governance working group emphasizes both process and outcomes. Three initial goals for the working group are outlined below.
A focus on process means careful attention to convening a diverse community of practitioners and scholars, innovating how to make progress on WG goals, and creating communication pathways that link rights- and stake-holders across levels and scales. A focus on outcomes implies working on actionable governance priorities that can make a real difference in how governance occurs in the Arctic.
Bring together scholars and practitioners to think about Arctic governance in ways that move beyond Western nation-state and territorial conceptions of sovereignty.
Develop a research agenda on multi-level governance that refects the diversity of governance arrangements, worldviews, institutions and actors present in the Arctic.
Identify and work on actionable priorities for Arctic governance that can transform broader Arctic policy-making processes and strengthen the voices of a diversity of rights-holders across the Arctic.
