The Interactive Plan of Study (iPOS) functions as a contract between the student, the academic unit, and ASU Graduate College. The iPOS contains certain degree requirements such as coursework, a committee and a culminating experience.
SHPRS requires all graduate students to file their iPOS by their second semester of study. To do this, you can simply refer to the iPOS Guide provided in your admissions email or find the course requirements listed on your program's page on this site.
The iPOS is a useful tool as your plan for degree completion or certification in the time-frame that you have identified, but will also be used by various levels of administration at ASU to be sure that you have satisfactorily met all program requirements. If your iPOS does not match your official academic transcript, you will not be eligible to graduate. It is important to be sure that you keep your iPOS up to date!
Submitting your iPOS should take about 15-30 minutes once you've identified what to fill in. You will need to make sure you have some information available before you begin.
Verify your graduate program requirements. You will need to know what courses are required and when you expect to take each course. To find this information, you can view your program's iPOS Guide below, or contact your program manager:
Review the Graduate College iPOS information page.
Review by Academic Unit: After you have submitted your iPOS online, your MyASU account will update to reflect that it is "Pending in Academic Unit". Typically, an iPOS will be approved by the academic unit within 30 days. If your iPOS is not reviewed within this time frame, contact your graduate program manager for more information.
Review by Graduate College: After the academic unit reviews the iPOS, it is passed to the ASU Graduate College for final review. You can track each step through your MyASU account. Only after the iPOS is back in your inbox will you be able to make changes or updates.
If you need to change your iPOS it is no problem. After your iPOS has been approved, you will simply log back in and make the updates to the course and/or semester as needed. Please remember, you MUST update your iPOS if any part of your plan changes. Contact your program manager with any other questions that you might have. If your iPOS does not match your formal academic transcript you will not graduate.
