Congratulations on your recent admission to the School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies graduate programs at Arizona State University. As a graduate student, we understand that you need to have access to up to date information at all times. This website should be the first place that you check for information. Below, please follow the steps and links to get set up for your courses. Please contact your program manager if you have questions.
Step 1: Activate your ASU Student Account (MyASU and ASURITE)
To activate your ASURITE User ID, click here. You will need to wait until you receive your official notification from ASU Graduate Education to complete this step.
Step 2: Set up your ASU Student Email
Email will be the primary means of communication. It is required that you set up and check your ASU Email on a daily basis. Click here for ASU Student Email Instructions including how to make sure your email is forwarding properly.
CHECK EMAIL DAILY - even before courses begin, you will receive information from your instructors and advisor via email.
Step 4: On-Campus International Students Only
Please visit "International Graduate Student Next Steps" to learn more about VISA, SEVIS, and other requirements.
If you have questions about documentation, VISA, employment, or SEVIS, contact the International Student & Scholars Center.
Step 5: Immunizations (On-Campus Students Only)
All incoming campus-based students must submit proof of MMR vaccination. The university also recommends immunization against meningococcal meningitis. More information can be found here: https://eoss.asu.edu/health/parents/immunization. You will not be able to register until you have submitted proof of vaccination.
Step 6: New Student Orientation
Your program manager will be in touch with information about a SHPRS graduate orientation, which is usually scheduled the week before classes begin or the first week of classes.
If you have accepted TA funding, you will also need to attend a TA orientation.
Step 7: Register for Classes
Which courses should you register for? Click on your degree program in the list of program handbooks under the "Administrative Help" heading at the top of this site. You will find a list of courses you will need to take during your program.
How do I register? Please visit the Registrar's site for information on steps to register: https://students.asu.edu/howtoregister.
Step 8: Explore/Apply for Financial Aid
It is best to contact the Financial Aid office directly. Your academic advisor does not have the best, most up to date information related to financial issues.
