Welcome to the new SHPRS Graduate Website!

This site is a comprehensive collection of policies and resources for graduate students in the School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies at ASU. By clicking on the pages to the left of this message, you can view information for new and current students, including funding resources and forms. If you click on a specific program, you will be able to view program-specific policies and procedures. In essence, this website serves to replace both the graduate program handbooks and the graduate Blackboards. We hope you find it useful!

Who we are:

The School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies is dedicated to helping all students succeed. Arizona State University offers many different resources and services for students.

In 2008, the departments of History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies joined together to create the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies (SHPRS), an academic unit of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Under the leadership of Matthew Delmont, the current director of the school, we continue to advance the university’s goals of excellence, access and impact.

We are the largest humanities-based trans-disciplinary research and teaching school at ASU. Our degree programs have grown to include Jewish Studies and Asia Studies. We continue to grow stronger as we create meaningful research and new programs that add value to our students’ individual paths and to our common goal of understanding our past, present and future.
