Our organization began in the Fall of 2018 as a new branch of the pre-existing Formula SAE internal combustion team on the Tempe campus. We share the same foundation and name, Sun Devil Motorsports, but as an independent club, we have built our own management and organizational structure. Over the years, we have been working toward our first formula electric car to race in the SAE Collegiate Design Series Competition. In the 2020-2021 academic year, the club required significant restructuring and revitalization to survive the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. With transition to the 2021-2022 academic year, we expanded our leadership and focused on our outreach and recruitment, and now, we stand strong and are back on track to build our first car.
Our team offers students an unparalleled opportunity to apply classroom concepts in an exciting, team-based environment. Members of our team have access to professional-grade design tools and training programs, and we collaborate with the university and our industry-partner network to offer various career information and development seminars throughout the semester. Our members have secured jobs and internships with university research labs, national labs, NASA, Nikola Motors, major U.S. airlines, and more!
All majors and experience levels are welcome! We are actively looking to expand our reach at ASU.
