Welcome to the Writers' Studio!
I’m 33 years old and live in my home city, Philadelphia, PA. Over the past five years, I've been working for the Penn Medicine health system. Additionally, I’ve dedicated 12 years to a nonprofit organization that offers free horseback riding lessons and social services to the youth of an underserved community, where I now serve as Vice Chair of the Board.
I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Social Justice and Human Rights. Despite avoiding formal education for many years, my academic journey is fueled by a deep passion for civics and a commitment to understanding and addressing the complexities of social issues, particularly those affecting the African American community. While I do not align with W.E.B. Du Bois's “Talented Tenth” philosophy, I am inspired by his belief that those with academic strength are morally obligated to uplift their communities from economic and political oppression.
Professionally, I am dedicated to working with local organizations that focus on social services, social justice, human rights, and policy reform. One of my goals is to lead or establish a public policy research organization that creates meaningful change by proposing fair and equitable policies.
Apart from academics and work, I have a few hobbies that keep me grounded and energized. I enjoy meditating, painting, and debating any subject matter with anyone who dares to let me get that dopamine hit. With that, I aspire to one day have the time, energy, and confidence to present my political and social issues analysis to the world as a video essayist.
I am eager and open to learning and growing as I continue on my academic and professional journeys.
