Hello! My name is Rohan Nair and I am a Grand Challenges Scholars Program student at Arizona State University majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Economics, graduating in Spring 2025. The goal of this program is to promote collaborative efforts across several universities to address the National Academy of Engineering's 14 Grand Challenges of the 21st century, with four overarching themes of Sustainability, Health, Security, and Joy of Living. I selected to pursue the theme of Security, as I was interested in applying my computer science and economics background to improving the safety of the public through various mediums. During my involvement in the Grand Challenges Scholars program, I completed my tasks for the 5 competencies: Talent (GCSP Research Stipend; CS Capstone), Interdisciplinary (FSE 150, ECN 394), Multicultural (COM 263, Interplanetary Initiative), Viable Business/Entrepreneurship (FSE 301), and Social Consciousness (EPICS Gold I, Global Resolve). Specifically with the program, I was also invovled in leadership experience as a GCSP Student Leader (Spring 2025) and a Teaching Assistant for the FSE 150 course. This portfolio is a representation of all of my accomplishments throughout my four years, and the rewarding experiences that each competency has provided me, ranging from valuable insights from courses, to research and project experiences that will set me up for my professional career.
