David Schweidt is a senior at ASU studying film production at the Sidney Poitier New American Film school. He has been doing theater since he was 12. From being in theater, he has experience through this theater in both on and behind the stage. While David has mostly worked in film doing directing and producing work, a large aspect of that still goes into production design, and will default to ensuring the production design is done by him on sets that do not have a dedicated production designer. David has always been interested in production design, and takes great care to ensure that the sets he works on, on screen and on stage, are given meticulous detail to immerse the viewers into the world being shown.
My main mission for any job is to immerse and transport the audiences into the world of the film they are watching. I feel that this is done with close attention to detail and really being able to immerse everything that we see on screen into that world, and even smaller details that some might claim to be trivial or not noticeable. I feel that when production design is done right, it is not something that stands out to the viewers when watching, but is appreciated upon reflection and realizing it was done well.
I am passionate about all aspects of filmmaking, with a history in leadership and theater experience. I have an abundance of experience in directing multiple student short films both in and out of class. I am strong in leading and working with people to coordinate and complete everything needed on time and in high quality. I am deeply passionate about directing, producing, writing, and acting.

This is a compilation of some of the work that I have completed in my time as a director. While this is focused on directing, I feel that it also displays many different choices in costume, location, and even set dressing, which for thse projects, I was in charge of.
This assignment was my final project for design and composition, putting together all the aspects of my production design research and practice to create a full preproduction document that would be used to put on a stage play of the story we were supposed to adapt. This assignment had us looking into period accurate clothing, buidlings that represented different eras, and different lightings and how that affects the tone of the play.
This is my first film in which I have been given the main production designer role. I feel that this is an incredible opportunity for me as I feel extremely excited to branch out further with this and allow my ideas to work hand in hand with the other crew members on the film to bring the Director's vision to life! While this film still in the early stages and in Capstone Development, I still went ahead and started working on some of the early ideas I had to the look and feel of the settings of the film. While this is still extremely early, I feel that the images start to tell the story of the aesthetic and being able to play with the different time periods shown off in the film.
