I'm a behavioral ecologist studying how house finches adapt to an urban environment, both in terms of behavior and physiology. I am broadly interested in how animals use behavior to adapt to new environments, how behavior informs evolution, and how urban habitats influence local animal populations. My Ph.D. thesis focused on differences in oxidative balance between urban and non-urban house finches, and on the link between behavior and oxidative balance.
In the past, I have studied a wide variety of topics including songbird personality, songbird vocal communication, small mammal population dynamics, and stream macroinvertebrate communities.Â
