June 2022
Scoping. Initial discussions and scope of work established with project team. Roles and responsibilities
assigned. Communication and data collection framework developed.
July 2022
Fieldwork. Travel to Paradox, Colorado. Saline samples collected. Interviews with PVU personnel. Survey of
surrounding landscape for potential for energy collection/storage facility.
August 2022
Reconvene. Meet with entire project team in person at ASU to discuss findings in Paradox and develop reverse
calendar. Secure dedicated time on mobileNEWT for the Fall semester.
Membrane and Draw / Feed Testing. Test membranes recommended by project team. Using material samples
collected over the summer, create test brine batches of various salinity levels as draw and feed samples. Research
available LIDAR sources for 3D modeling of Paradox Valley. Create inventory and initial conceptual drawings.
November - December 2022
Analysis / Evaluation. Create data visualization of results of membrane and draw / feed solution tests.
January / February 2023
Prototype Development. Use mobileNEWT to test best performing membranes and draw / feed solutions. SEM visualization. 3D model of salt crystals developed. Touch Designer/Notch interface design. Image deck for "stories of salt." Wall text. Plans and Sections.
March 2023
Exhibition developed with mobileNEWT in proximity of the School of Art culminating with an interactive public display in the Harry Wood Art Gallery at ASU, March 27 - 31, 2023 (confirmed).
Installation (start): Friday, March 24, 2 pm.
Installation (finish): Sunday, March 26, 5 pm.
Opening: Monday, March 27, 8 am.
Public Reception: Tuesday, March 28, 5:30 - 7:30 pm.
Deinstallation: Friday, March 31, Noon - 2 pm.
