New Student Webinar
MCS New Student Welcome Webinar, for Fall 2026 admits will be held Thursday, August 13th at 9AM. This will be recorded for those who cannot attend and will be published on the Canvas Onboarding course.
Canvas Onboarding
The 2026-2027 academic year Canvas Onboarding/Orientation course is available.
All students admitted for Fall 2026 should have received a notification to your ASU email that you have been added. If you did not receive a notification, you can access the course by clicking on the Canvas link in My ASU. You may also self-enroll for the course here.
Course Access
You will be able to access your classes by clicking on the course name in the My Classes box on My ASU, this will take you to the course in Canvas.
All MCS graduate classes will be live and able to access via Canvas on August 15th for Fall Session A courses. Note, this is only for program courses, any courses outside of the MCS program (deficiency classes) may not have early access.

These are general reminders; please review the 2026-2027 Canvas Onboarding and Online Program Resources page for all policy and program information.
Once admitted to a graduate degree program, students must be registered for a minimum of one graduate-level credit hour during all phases of their graduate education, including the terms in which they were admitted and graduate. Registration for every fall and spring semester is required (session A or B). Summer registration is required for students whose first term is summer, completing culminating experiences or graduating from the degree program. Grades of “W” and/or “X” are not considered valid registration for continuous enrollment purposes.
Newly Admitted Students for Fall 2026: If you know you will not be able to enroll for the FALL semester, you can submit a deferral request to start in the next term (Spring). Students may defer their initial term of admission to the next term through their My ASU page by using the Request Change link.
☑️You cannot have any enrollment on record for a deferral to be processed.
☑️Students may only defer their admission one time. This must be submitted prior to session B start.
If you were admitted with deficiencies, please be aware of the deadlines for completion. If completed via CPE exams, they must be completed within one semester (two sessions). If completing via course, they must be completed within one year. See the Welcome Page or Onboarding for options for completion and deadlines. Also refer to your admission letter to confirm your admission terms.
The iPOS needs to be submitted by the end of your first semester. See the ipos help page for instructions including the course rotation list to see when classes are offered and help in planning for future courses.
Graduate students must maintain a minimum 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = “A”) grade point average (GPA) to maintain satisfactory academic progress and to graduate. The minimum 3.00 GPA must be maintained on all GPA’s (Plan of Study (iPOS) GPA, Overall Graduate GPA and Cumulative GPA). Graduate students must make sufficient progress towards their degree, students must meet the admission letter requirements, submit the iPOS, complete the Portfolio culminating event.
