Mary Lawrence

WELCOME

My name is Mary Lawrence and I'm an Instructor of English Composition at CT State Community College - Gateway (since 2009) and Faculty Associate at Arizona State University (since 2022). I facilitate learning for a diverse student body by incorporating inclusive mentor texts, counter storytelling, multi-modal activities, and critical digital literacy into my pedagogy. I enjoy getting creative with digital tools in the classroom and building a sense of community by encouraging curiosity, collaboration, and interactive activities that empower students' authentic voice as writers. 

As a life-long learner, I'm also passionate about teaching and hope to inspire students to not just do well in my classes, but to be the best persons they can be by finding their purpose and contributing their unique gifts to the world.
