Jie (Jay) Chen
Welcome to my personal website.
I am Jie Chen, a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Information Systems at Arizona State University, advised by Dr. Hong Guo. I study the organizational and behavioral consequences of emerging technologies, with a particular focus on generative AI, examining why their realized value often lags behind their potential.
My research develops a unified perspective on this gap by linking three elements: the causal impact of new technologies on business outcomes, the frictions and biases that arise in human–AI interaction, and the design solution at the architectural and interface levels to improve decision-making and business value.
Methodologically, I integrate field and lab experimentation, econometrics, and design science to both explain and improve the impact of AI in business.
