Jie (Jay) Chen
Welcome to my personal website.
I am Jie Chen, a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Information Systems at Arizona State University, advised by Dr. Hong Guo. I am an experimentalist with research interests in two main areas: (1) the experimental design science for Generative AI, and (2) Human-AI interaction & Decision-Making.
Research Stream 1: Experimental Design Science for Generative AI
My research applies a design science paradigm to develop and empirically validate Generative AI artifacts for business. I focus on formulating important business problems, co-designing novel GenAI systems as solutions, and establishing their causal impacts through rigorous field experiments. By evaluating these artifacts, I measure their real-world effect on usability, productivity, and business metrics.
Research Stream 2: Human-AI Interaction & Decision-Making
I use field experiments to investigate how decision-makers interact with IT artifacts, specifically Generative AI. This stream focuses on uncovering systematic biases and limitations that arise during system interaction. I then design and test theory-driven interventions to mitigate these limitations, aiming to empirically improve decision quality, productivity, and the realized business value of ITs in applied contexts.
