I’m Jack Connolly, a master’s student in sports journalism at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and a play-by-play broadcaster and studio host.

I recently earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX where I played two seasons for the Hilltoppers baseball team and won awards for sports reporting with the student newspaper. In 2025, I broke news of a Major League Baseball call-up on X that drew national attention and 36.7 million impressions, a reminder of the reach and responsibility that come with timely, accurate reporting. That combination of athletic experience, newsroom training and social media reporting shaped my play-by-play style: teamwork, collaborative, composed under pressure and driven to tell the game’s story.

Over the past three years, I’ve called high school, NCAA Division I and II, and summer-league baseball games across the country. As the voice of the West Coast League’s Cowlitz Black Bears, I broadcast 57 games in 70 days while managing the team’s media relations to engage thousands of fans.

My work also extends behind the camera. I’ve supported ESPN’s Longhorn Network in operations and utilities and reported on the NCAA Men’s College World Series across broadcast, digital and social platforms. Those experiences sharpened my understanding of production and storytelling—skills I bring to every broadcast.

Away from the mic, I enjoy hiking, skiing, surfing and boating—pursuits that fuel the energy and curiosity I bring to live sports coverage.
