A network of sensemakers, pathfinders, and relentless optimists
An initiative of professors and community leaders guided by the Charter of
Arizona State University
and by the Aspirational Pillars of the
School of Applied Professional Studies
The Leadership Innovations Lab at ASU brings together tech entrepreneurs, students, academics, and leaders of nonprofit organizations to support ethically oriented innovations. We integrate and apply science and humanities research, artistic insights, academic perspectives, and next-gen sensemaking in alliance with communities, enterprise partners, social and industrial entrepreneurs, and initiatives to serve the global commons. Based within the university's dynamic College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA), the Lab embraces creative and critical thinking, inclusive and ethics-centered design processes, innovative knowledge-building, and the forging of new paths in our rapidly interconnecting world.
We mean to confront and disrupt extractive paradigms, to inspire and achieve the greatest potentials of the digital age, to prevent environmental and cultural collapse, and to create fulfilling anti-fragile pathways for an enlightened future on our home planet.
The Leadership Innovations Lab (L.I.L.), aka Innovations Leadership Lab, is a forum for ASU's most innovative educators, researchers, and leaders dedicated to community outreach and service, linking our resources with allied institutions, community leaders, and virtual/digital pathmakers.
"L.I.L. Talks" --- Confronting the Challenges of the World:
The Lab hosts a series of symposia dedicated to transdisciplinary knowledge-sharing and sensemaking, aimed at confronting 'wicked' glocal (local and global) problems. The format of each "L.I.L. Talk" is informal and relaxed, a true roundtable inviting full and focused participation in each instance, among a select group of invited researchers, educators, social and tech entrepreneurs, and thought partners. Applied scholarship is our goal, as we aim to use these knowledge-creation sessions to help guide and inspire integrated, ethically grounded tech development, more effective and transparent leadership, new approaches to data sovereignty, and support for marginalized communities.
The Lab also supports Research Dojo events in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts, as well as larger symposia and conferences dedicated to tech-linked solutions to wicked problems, while partnering strategically with other labs and institutes, enterprise partners, community leaders, non-profits, government initiatives, and academic contributors on every continent.
ASU is a comprehensive public research university, measured not by whom it excludes, but by whom it includes and how they succeed; advancing research and discovery of public value; and assuming fundamental responsibility for the economic, social, cultural and overall health of the communities it serves.
A hub of innovation dedicated to serving local and global communities
Helping to strengthen communities while creating safe paths for neurodivergence
