BIOMIMICRY
Inspired by biomimicry as a design strategy I used a cheetah's claws and an ostrich's talons to guide me through the propulsion design process. After studying the general motion of these animals' feet while running I was able to translate it onto a human foot and adapt to my cleat concept.
DESIGN INTENT
"CLAW" AND "TALON"
CREATE A HYBRID THAT FEATURES A CHEETAH'S CLAW AND AN OSTRICH'S TALON, THEN MIMIC THAT TO HUMAN ANATOMY.
PROPULSION
Located on the toe feature a "Staggered Claw". I Created this component by combining the ostrich's staggered talons and the cheetah's various claws and claw lengths. This Feature is meant to propel athletes forward due to the specifically angled cleats and continuous contact that the staggered pattern correlates to the pattern of a human's feet in motion. Next the cleat provides flexible support on the mid section of the foot for agility and stabilization.
FINAL SKETCH
In the final sketch, the design has been streamlined to eliminate excess material and simplify manufacturing processes. By focusing on essential features and reducing unnecessary components, the cleat achieves a minimalist yet functional aesthetic. This approach not only minimizes waste but also enhances efficiency in production, resulting in a cleat that is both environmentally conscious and economically viable.
MODULARITY
Modular spikes located in the heel portion of the sole. Spikes/ studs main purpose is to assist athletes when switching between artificial and natural playing fields. They can be screwed into the bottom of the sole. The second purpose that they will improve the athlete's stability, Torque, and Agility. Although it isn't necessary, these modules are meant for different user sizes.

For larger athletes, having appropriately sized studs is essential. These studs provide stability and traction, especially when leaning on their heels. With more surface area in contact with the ground, they can generate greater power and torque, amplifying their strength on different playing surfaces. This ensures they maintain balance and control, optimizing their performance even if speed isn't their forte.
SPIKES
Spikes are designed for smaller athletes who prioritize agility and quick movements. These athletes benefit from the deep and rapid penetration of spikes into the ground, which enhances their natural abilities. By providing superior traction and stability during dynamic movements, spikes allow smaller athletes to make sharp cuts, sudden stops, and explosive bursts of speed with greater efficiency and precision, ultimately optimizing their performance on the field.
