Welcome to the Writers' Studio!
At twenty-two years old and still new to adulting, I'm figuring a lot of things out. How, for instance, does one make friends in a new city where you know no one? What utilities should I be paying for in this new apartment? How do I furnish said apartment, when I'm still figuring out how to pay for groceries? All these questions and more, and yet there's one I'm confident answering: What do I want to do with my life?
I've always been a passionate writer. From a young age, I wrote pages and pages of stories. I finally finished my first novel at eighteen.
About a year prior, at seventeen, I fell in love with the sport of hockey. It may have been later than some, but my love for the sport soon multiplied tenfold, and it became my life.
It took me a while, but it eventually came to me: Why not combine my two favorite things? So, last summer, I joined Area 51 Sports Network and started writing about hockey. Since then, I've interviewed countless players, covered numerous live games, written about various prospects and veterans, among much more. I also hosted a podcast dedicated to the WHL, where I talked to players and discussed the latest league news weekly. I've been writing for A51 for over a year now, and I have gained so much invaluable experience that I hope to apply to my dream career. I aspire to be a Communications & Media Manager for a WHL team - a job that is both writing heavy and media based.
Long story short: I love writing and I love hockey. I could talk to you for hours about both. All this led me to where I am now - pursuing a Digital Audiences degree at ASU (with a minor in Technical Communication!). As of winter of 2023, I work at Starbucks full-time (shout out to the SCAP), write for A51 Sports, attend college online, and work part-time for the local hockey team. Busy busy!
Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I'm passionate about equity and inclusion, especially in the world of hockey.
I've had my cat Taika since I turned eighteen. He's nearly four now, and we're definitely a bonded pair.
I used to live in Oregon, where I attended many Portland Winterhawks games with some of my closest friends.
I covered the Seattle Thunderbirds' WHL Championship run, and was part of the media on the ice after they won the championship title! (I took that photo!)
I am currently working toward the Communications & Media manager role for a WHL team. My top two teams I dream of working with are the Portland Winterhawks or the Saskatoon Blades, however I am willing to work for any WHL team! This is my main goal in life, and something I am extremely driven and passionate about.
I'm proud of my writing, although there is a lot of room for improvement (that's why I'm in school!). I'm also a skilled interviewer, with several interviews under my belt.
My drive and passion for what I do (and want to do) are things I pride myself on, too. Those paired with hard work will get me far.
I've interviewed players from almost every team in the WHL.
My coverage of the Thunderbirds' playoff run garnered a lot of attention online, specifically Twitter.
I completed my first novel-length story at eighteen.
When I graduate college, I'll be the first in my family to do so! (This probably should count as a goal, but...)
