The section between the two horizontal lines is intended to give assistance to the teacher, and should be deleted before sending to students. All assignments are hosted as google docs, and it is recommended that you make a copy for yourself and edit it to your specifications.
The chart below lays out an example unit structure of how a teacher may approach Frankenbook. The first three assignments are over-arching and can be plugged in anywhere. The following five assignments build off of each other in a progression.
Students will grow and develop their skill sets during the process, and will be able to leverage their annotation and research skills for the final Informative Synthesis Essay assignment.
This structure allows for 8 weeks of reading and overlapping assignments.
Media questions can be used at any point during the process. Similarly, the Science in Society and Pop Culture assignments ask students to consider themes and examples throughout the course of the novel. These could be introduced early and it allows students to select the passages and themes that speak to them most over the 8 weeks.
The "annotate the introduction/preface assignment should certainly come first. The following three assignments build up the skill set of the the learner as they prepare for the larger informative synthesis essay.
