To set screen size in Smart Sparrow go to the menu and select Screen > Screen Size, then set the following attributes:
Width: 1000
Height: 500 (or more as needed)
Set as default.
Be sure to keep content within the 20 pixel padding of the screen size. Some elements can bleed into the padding, but all text should be within the 960 area.
Note: The height can be as tall as you need it to be. Content that is taller than 500px may require the user to scroll vertically. It may help to section off your content at 500px increments when designing.
The dimensions above are based on the screen size of Chromebooks. Their most common resolution size is 1366 x 768, which is among the smallest of supported devices.
Once you factor in this size, along with the web browser interface AND Smart Sparrow's, you are left over with a 1000 x 500 px safe viewing area.
You can design layouts by using columns. Columns help dictate the width of elements (text, images, etc.) within the overall content. For example, you can split the layout into two even halves:
To aid layout design the images below can be downloaded (right-click > Save image as...), and then inserted on any screen in SmartSparrow (send to back). Content can be aligned to the edges of the areas in yellow.
These are just guides for designing and are not meant to restrict creativity!
