Throughout my life, I have sought out jobs helping people. I have been a babysitter, community service volunteer, intern children's librarian, and customer service employee for nine years. My passion for English is fueled by helping, informing, and connecting others to the world around them and to each other.
I have a passion for teaching, and I want to help students who are struggling with situations that are impeding their learning. It is our job as educators to work diligently with students, to assist them in exploring solutions, finding paths, and determining a course of action to help them grow and develop. I believe that along with being advocates for the students, we also should be advocates for parents, the school, and the community.
I have always loved to write, and in many different mediums. Between my experience in English, journalism, and film/video studies, I have plenty of experience in multimodality. I enjoy more traditional mediums as well as digital, and would love to share my knowledge with others.
I use writing to express who I am. Writing has always been an outlet of mine, from a very young age. I have documented the world around me for years and it has helped me become who I am today. Not only do I have experience in how to write, but I love to write. I am grateful every day in my choice to study what I love.

For my undergraduate capstone project, I have created a poetry manuscript of the poetry that best defines me. The manuscript is organized by the styles of poems I have created and the periods of my life that they occurred. My goal for this project is to share who I am, both as a writer and as an individual, through my creative work. I have been writing poetry since I was in elementary school, always as a way to express my emotions. When I started taking college-level poetry classes, I began testing out different styles and found my own voice. The progression of my poetry is well organized in my manuscript, allowing others to know how my work, and who I am, came to be.
