An immigrant-citizen, first-generation, grateful Pell grant recipient, teaching scholar of multiethnic origins -- so, English, Scottish, Irish, and Dutch -- I am the proud father of two wonderful sons and am married to a K-12 educator. Shaped by my research interests of comparative genocide studies/IR, I am an equity and accessibility focused educator that teaches a wide array of social science and humanities courses at ASU as a part of the Social Justice & Human Rights program. Recently, Lexington Books published my work Genocidal Conscription which examines states that utilize mandatory military service as a tool to commit genocide under the guise of war. The findings highlight significant implications for asylees and refugees that flee from this form of deadly exploitation today.
