Of The Months (OTMS)
OTMs are “Of the Months” which are a way to recognize the amazing things going on at your campus. This recognition starts on your campus level and can possibly reach regional and NACURH levels.
There are two types of OTMs (individual and program) that have a number of categories which include a person or program that you would like to nominate. Individual OTMs are a maximum of 600 words (minimum 300) and should describe the outstanding accomplishments of an individual within that specific month. Program OTMs allow for various types of programs on campus (which occur within a specific month) to be nominated. These OTMs have specific sections with individual word maximums.

- Resident Assistant (for CAs)
- Student (non first year, doesn't fit into any other category)
- Student Staff Member (for RSCLs, OAs, Well Devils, etc)

- Social Program
- Community Service Program
- Educational Program
- Diversity Program
- Passive Program
- Other
- Organization
- Executive Board
- Residential Community
- Spotlight (any award that doesn't fall into the prior groups)
Quick Tips for Writing Winning OTMs
- Make sure you talk about how the person/event was above and beyond anything expected.
- Give examples! If there are “many more reasons this person should be the ____ of the month,” then you should talk about them! Use dates to anchor your facts.
- Define acronyms; they are not always universal! The only acronyms you should use are NRHH, NACURH, RHA, NCC, and region name (e.g. NEACURH).
- Make sure you are using the correct category for your nominee. This is a common error people make. To avoid mistakes look at the criteria on the previous pages.
- Presentation is the key! Proofread the OTM to make sure you are clearly saying what you want to say. Look out for bad grammar and spelling errors. Have someone else proofread your OTM if you are unsure!
- Make sure your nomination is month specific! It is very important to highlight the outstanding things that the nominee did and how they did it in the month of nomination. Use phrases like "in the month of ____ they did…". Keep this in mind throughout the whole OTM nomination.
