Gabby is an undergraduate student studying Biomedical Engineering with a certificate in Veterans, Society and Service and pursuing a career in prosthetics. She works at Limb Lab in Scottsdale Arizona alongside our community partner Noah Nemgar as a prosthetic assistant. As a founding member of the team, her desire is to create innovative tools that maximize opportunities for young amputees.
Jarek is a current senior studying Biomedical Engineering at the Ira. A Fulton School of Engineering at Arizona State University. Jarek is also enrolled at Barrett, the Honors College of ASU. Jarek joined this project as one of the founding members because of his passion to help others and because of the interest he has in 3D printing. After completing his undergrad, he wants to go on to further pursue a Master's degree with hopes of pursuing a Ph.D. before entering the start-up world.
Jason is majoring in Biomedical Engineering at the Ira. A Fulton School of Engineering at Arizona State University, and is also enrolled at Barrett the Honors College. He is interested in biotechnologies that aid in the restoration of lost movements, such as neurorehabilitation or neurostimulation. Prosthetics have always been a personal interest of his, and he has taken the role of software lead for this project. He has researched using EMGs with Arduino and is working with his sub-team to develop a control system to create movement in a myoelectric prosthetic arm based on EMG signals.
Nessa is a materials engineering student at ASU's Fulton School of Engineering. She is also in Barrett the Honors College and has been around the project for a while. Nessa joined this project because she wants to learn more about prosthetics and develop new skills in materials engineering.
Sebastian is a Sophomore studying mechanical engineering at ASU's Fulton School of Engineering. He hopes to use his experiences in robotics and automotive projects to build a prosthetic and to gain a further understanding of complex design.
Nandika is a sophomore studying Computer Science in Barrett, The Honors College. She joined Devils Prosthetics to learn more about the application of autonomous systems to biomechanics. After pursuing her Master's through the accelerated 3+1 program, she hopes to pursue a Ph.D. and continue doing research in machine learning techniques.
Deepit is a sophomore studying Robotics engineering with a minor Human Systems Engineering. who is passionate about medical robotics and wants to develop affordable prosthetics.
The team would also like to offer special thank you to the staff of the EPICS program at Arizona State University
Jared Schoepf
Jared Schoepf is the Director of Operations for Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) at Arizona State University. Jared received his PhD in Chemical Engineering at ASU, developing a tiered approach to rapidly detect nanomaterials in the environment and consumer products. Jared has been a lecturer of EPICS for 3 years, mentoring over 200 teams. Currently he teaches introduction to engineering, EPICS, and introduction to chemical engineering processes. He has founded 2 starts ups and has 3 patents for water purification, removal of trash from storm water, and Dial’s antibacterial liquid hand soap formula. He has a passion for teaching and mentoring students, aiming to help each student achieve their goals. In his free time Jared loves to go hiking, backpacking, and snowboarding.
