I was born and brought up in a small town called Baidyabati, at the outskirts of Kolkata in India. I have always been fond of literature, especially English, and I chose that for further study. After graduating high school from St. Joseph's Convent, I enrolled for my Bachelor degree in English at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata (SXCCAL), India. My three years at SXCCAL shaped and molded me into the person I am today. I graduated in May of 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in English (Honors). Following B.A., I completed my Masters degree in English with a specialization in Gender Literature from the University of Calcutta, India, in 2016.

I completed my second Master of Arts in English, specializing in Film and Media Studies, from Arizona State University. I am continuing my research work at Queen's University, Canada, where I am a doctoral student from Fall 2021. I am doing my PhD in Screen Cultures under Prof. Ali Na. My work focuses on the authentic representation of LGBTQ community and their issues in Indian Parallel Cinema, question the beliefs, perspectives and misconceptions regarding the issues and work on how better ways they can be portrayed in cinema to leave an impact on the spectators, thus pushing towards a healthier society.

I have extensive experience in teaching English Literature and Writing in High & Middle School before starting my masters in ASU. I taught English as a Second Language to Middle and High School students as well. I also worked as a freelance Creative and Content Writing Expert in Kolkata.

My research interests are Indian Parallel/ Avant-garde Cinema, Indian New Wave, Indian Cinema (Bollywood), gender and sexuality studies, South Asian, Cultural studies, Film Studies and Film Theories.
