A time-honored tradition for law students around the country. A rite of passage. A chance to honor and celebrate your hard work with your classmates at the end of the school year. Basically, it's law prom.
In typical dress code lingo, we'd say formal attire. What we really mean is that we want you to dress in whatever makes you feel like a million bucks. We recommend floor-length or midi-dresses, suits and ties. Dress to impress!
Yes.... more announcements on this are to come but as of now we have organized to have 3 pre-paid food trucks with various meal options (pizza, burgers, tacos...etc.)! We will have dairy free, gluten free, kosher, vegan, halal, and flexible food options.
There will be an open bar that will have a variety of both alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. Although drinks are included in the cost of your ticket, it is always kind and mannerly to tip the bartenders for their service. The open bar will include various kinds of beer, wines, and alcoholic seltzers.
We will have a DJ spinning tracks from throwbacks to top 40, so feel free to hit the dancefloor to get your groove on. If that's not your style, there will be a few yard games in the outdoor section of the venue. There will be lots of yummy appetizers and tables so that you can snack and chat with classmates. Make the memories last by striking a pose with your friends at the photo booth.
Please arrive no earlier than 7:00 PM. We will be closing the doors promptly at 8:00 PM. Please arrive before the doors close, because we do not want to turn you away, but will if necessary. This is so that the SBA Board members who are volunteering their time to process tickets can also enjoy their evening, and so that we can ensure a safe and successful event.
Yes! There is a place on the ticket purchasing site that allows for one guest ticket. All the same rules apply to students and guests alike; please note that you, as the student, may be held responsible for the actions of your invited guest.
There will be designated security guards devoted to ensuring the safety of this event. You must bring your ticket and a photo ID with your birthdate to be validated by the security guards. You may be subject to a bag or pocket search. If you are found with any prohibited items, you will be instructed to dispose of them before you can enter. These security guards have the authority to bar anyone from entering the venue or eject anyone from the venue if they determine that there is a safety or liability risk.
No; however, absolutely no alcohol will be permitted to those under the age of 21. Therefore, we must check IDs at the door and designate those who are underage with a handstamp. Please bring a photo ID that shows your date of birth. If you do not bring one, you will be hand-stamped and will be unable to obtain alcoholic beverages. This rule also applies to guests.
While this event is for law students, some school staff and faculty may be present, including some members of the student services and leadership team.
We want to be transparent so that you know where your money is going. This event is not designed to make a profit for SBA, nor the school. The school has kindly contributed some funds to cover the cost of food. However, the remainder of the costs (beverages, venue and vendors, insurance, security, and activities) are funded entirely by ticket sales. We are thrilled to be offering a luxury event experience. This year in particular we are excited to have greater food options and variety and the inclusion of an open bar!
If you are facing extenuating financial circumstances that impede your ability to purchase a ticket, please contact Kelsey Fischer (kgfische@asu.edu). Note that any financial assistance that may be available is extremely limited, and no one is guaranteed to receive any financial support to attend. Any conversations regarding financial assistance will be kept confidential and Kelsey will be acting in her role as SBA President.
This one isn't a question. There are certain expectations that should inform your conduct at this event.
As law students, we are held to high standards. At this event, we all have an opportunity to uphold and build upon the honorable reputation of both our school and the greater legal profession. This event also allows us an opportunity to practice responsible and professional behavior at a social event where alcohol is offered; as attorneys, we may face many such events in our careers and will need to conduct ourselves in a professional manner.
Keep in mind that your behavior at this event is governed by the Student Code of Conduct and Rules and Procedures for the Committee on Character and Fitness. Please take the time to review these documents. A violation of the Student Code of Conduct, even at an off-campus event, may result in expulsion, suspension, degree revocation, or payment of restitution for property damage.
