These two videos are drawn from my recent recital at ASU, exploring resonance as transformation across senses. Shadow Bone Light is a commissioned work by composer Yangfan Xu, inspired by my ceramic piece (also called Shadow, Bine, Light.) Responding to the material texture and structure of the ceramic form, she translated its physical presence into her own musical language. "The Light" developed alongside my study of a classcial piano piece Scarlatti’s Sonata K.1. The tactile and rhythmic qualities of the Baroque repertoire informed a corresponding ceramic work, creating a dialogue between piano and contemporary material exploration. Across these works, resonance becomes a process of exchange — where material, sound, and perception continuously inform one another.
