While one of the core responsibilities of the Section Leader is to montior, maintain, post, and respond in Yellowdig, the Instructor should show they are present in the community. Instructors should:
Check Yellowdig at least twice per week.
Stay active in Yellowdig - leave a reaction, comment, or post in the community.
Look for trends. If students post or share similar topics, address the entire group with a post on Yellowdig or Canvas Announcement.
Section Leaders will maintain the Yellowdig board
Section Leaders will regularly respond to and monitor the Yellowdig board.
Section leaders will connect with students by sharing resources, help articles, or tips.
Each week, the Section Leader will post a question, prompt, or poll to engage with students.
Instructors will provide secondary support
The Section Leader will monitor the Yellowdig community, and the Instructor is expected to provide secondary support.
The instructor should check Yellowdig at least twice each week.
Add reactions or comments to student posts to show that you are active.
Set up your Yellowdig profile before class begins.
At the very least, please include a profile photo.

You will not enter any grades for Yellowdig
Canvas and Yellowdig automatically score and track student engagement in your Canvas course.
In Canvas, points will appear under the "Yellowdig conversations - Access here" assignment.
Yellowdig grades will be updated weekly in Canvas after each due date.
Each Sunday at 11:59 pm, the grade in Canvas (the assignment "Yellowdig conversations - Access here") will reset to 0.
Encourage students to monitor their scores in Yellowdig rather than Canvas.
Students need to earn at least 1,000 points each week to increase their grade from 0 to 300 points in Canvas.
The point systems in Canvas and Yellowdig are different.
Points in Canvas
Grades are automatically calculated in Canvas, the instructor does not need to add or edit Canvas grades.
In Canvas, Yellowdig engagement is worth 300 points.
To earn 300 points in Canvas each week, the student needs to earn at least 1,000 points in Yellowdig.
Each Sunday at 11:59 pm, all student scores reset to 0 points in Canvas only, indicating that students need to participate and earn more points.
Students need to engage in Yellowdig and earn points throughout the week to increase their Canvas score from 0 to 300.
Yellowdig points do not reset at the beginning of the week. Canvas points do reset at the start of each week.
To fulfill the Yellowdig requirement for this class, students must earn at least 6,000 points in Yellowdig.
Points in Yellowdig
In Yellowdig, students must earn 6,000 points by the end of the class to receive a passing score in Canvas.
We suggest that students earn 1,000 points in Yellowdig each week to stay on track.
Students can earn a maximum of 2,000 Yellowdig points per week.
To earn the 300 Canvas points each week, students must earn at least 1,000 points in Yellowdig each week.
1,000 points in Yellowdig = 300 points in Canvas.
For all courses (besides ASU 101-CLS):
Create a new post (150 points). The post must include at least 40 words.
Comment on someone else's post (150 points).The comment must include at least 40 words.
Receive a comment a post (50 points for each comment). Comments on a post demonstrate that this a topic others want to discuss.
Receive a reaction/emoji on a post or comment (30 points for each reaction).
Receive an accolade from an instructor (between 75 - 150 points, depending on the accolade)
For ASU 101-CLS classes:
Starting a conversation
Earn 40 points for submitting a new post.
Earn 240 points if your post has more than 40 words.
Continuing a conversation
Earn 50 points for submitting a new comment or reply.
Earn 160 points by leaving a comment with more than 20 words.
Connecting with your community
Earn 75 points for adding a video to another student's post.
Earn 70 points for each comment that another student leaves on your post
Earn 55 points for each reaction you receive from another student.
Each week, Section Leaders will create one post to engage with students.
