We are honored to have been invited by Joni Adamson and Steven Hartman, co-Directors of UNESCO Bridges, to bring our work to a global stage in Paris. This would not have been possible without the generous support of our donors. Thank you for supporting our MDT/HIDA students and alumni, and for giving our pipe dream wings!

I hope that our audience at UNESCO, especially the delegates and policy makers, are able to see that artists can create performances that are beautiful and evocative, but that we are also rigorous in our approach. This makes us vital partners in combatting the climate crisis.
CHOREOGRAPHER

Art speaks a rare language: it strikes a chord within us, commands our immediate attention, and ultimately compels us to act. My hope is that Anthropocene shows that performance art can be just as impactful and useful to spark change as the science and advocacy that it supports.

To me, Paris means being able to do something no one else in my family has done before: travel internationally. On top of that, I get to be at UNESCO doing what I love with the people I love, sharing a vital message that the world needs to hear.

Performing in Paris is a dream I had my whole life - my childhood bedroom was Paris themed and I convinced my best friends to make a fake France travel video for my 5th grade project. I am especially grateful for the opportunity to do theatre as a form of activism. Hopefully this is a path to progress for the planet.
Rachel Hutzenbiler
Who would have thought an audition in 2023 would have brought us 3 distinct performances and the opportunity to travel abroad. It is so exciting to bring this show to Paris to perform in front of UNESCO delegates from around the world with a message that we are so passionate about: climate activism, awareness, and the future of our world.
Paulina Magallanes
Anthropocene is beyond art, beyond the efforts of students and theatre-makers coming together to share a moment. Anthropocene is the collective cries of generation after generation pleading to save our God-given home. It is both our hope and grievances listed out as a way to hold each other accountable. It is the hope that perhaps humanity will redeem itself.
Tim Nipper
This third version of Anthropocene culminates what we have been building. We are so fortunate to perform to an international audience of delegates and politicians. These are the people that really need to understand the message of the show, as they’re the people with the ability to take actions to protect our planet.
Shayna Padjen
The most meaningful element of bringing Anthropocene to UNESCO is the goal to base public policy on a humanities based framework. That’s exactly what this production is all about and I look forward to showing the potential Anthropocene has in influencing future policies.
Sophia Poliansky
I am excited for theatre to be used as an educational tool to help initiate change we need. Art touches people’s lives in a way that numbers and statistics cannot. I am thrilled that we can bring our passion to Paris!
Tristan Schilling
I never, ever thought I would have the opportunity to leave the country for something as incredible as this. I feel so blessed and thankful to be a part of this show– what once we thought ephemeral, now seems to be living and breathing as much as any one of us.
Keenan Smith
The opportunity to perform in Paris is a childhood dream come true! I couldn’t ask for a better cast and crew to do it with, and am so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen.
Cayleb Stroehlein
Anthropocene is a show that not only affects the United States, but the world, just like it not only affects the present, but the future. We have the opportunity to make change, but to do that requires performing for a global audience, which we can do at UNESCO.
Ashlyn Truelick
Receiving this opportunity to travel to Paris and share Anthropocene with a new community is truly a blessing. This performance has already made such a meaningful impact, and I’m so eager to see how it continues to resonate with audiences across the world.
Fletcher Whittington
I am incredibly lucky to have been invited to join the cast of Anthropocene. Having the privilege to perform in front of the top decision-makers from around the world is an unbelievable experience that I will never forget or even begin to believe that I was a part of. I will forever be grateful.
Kylie Wright
I am still pinching myself to fully believe we are taking Anthropocene to Paris. Paris has been my dream travel destination since I was 15. But to travel to Paris to do my favorite thing - perform - and to share a topic I am passionate about - the negative environmental impact we are causing our Earth - is beyond my wildest dream.
