AI-FIXIT

AI-FIXIT (Artificial Intelligence - Facilitated Interactive eXploration and Interactive Teaching) is a learning activity where students are asked to explore their own understanding of a concept by correcting an AI with a specific misunderstanding.

For example, if a student has learned about derivatives in a calculus class, and about functions which are not differentiable, an AI-FIXIT activity might be to teach an AI that initially believes that all functions have derivatives at all points: example for ASU Enterprise, example for ChatGPT Plus

Or perhaps a student who has learned that plants pull CO2 from the atmosphere can teach an AI that initially believes that plants get all their mass from the soil: example for ASU Enterprise, example for ChatGPT Plus.

In an AI-FIXIT activity, students get the chance to confront common misconceptions and prove their correct understanding in a friendly dialogue. Currently, we suggest running these activities as a class-time activity for any teachers with a ChatGPT enterprise or Plus account. In the future, we imagine AI-FIXIT activities may also replace some short answer response questions.

These activities are not only powerful, they are also easy to create! On this site, we have provided instructions for creating your own prompts as well as a repository of prompts for use by fellow educators. Please give it a try and share your prompts with us!
