THE ENSENADA-SAN DIEGO ASTROPHYSICAL SOCIETY MEETING

"Science is impossible without the sharing of knowledge." 

"The modern world requires science to be shared in the
English language for broader reach." 

This will be the first Ensenada-San Diego Astrophysical Society (ESDAS) meeting, 

and the fourth in the Ensenada Astrophysical Society meeting series.

The main goal of the ESDAS meeting is educational. As such, the ESDAS meeting is geared toward research students, including advanced undergraduates currently involved in research projects, graduate students (M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels), and early career post-doctoral scholars. 

The objectives of this meeting is to provide students opportunities to:

1. Practice writing and submitting an abstract summarizing their research project at a scientific meeting.

2. Develop skills in oral communication by giving a scientific talk, answering questions, and asking questions to their peers.

3. Engage in scientific discussion and exchange of knowledge with their peers.

4. Develop scientific collaborations and community across the US-Mexico Border.

Students are encouraged to submit an abstract of their research project for a contributed talk. 

For the ESDAS, a new dynamic will be introduced with the abstract submission process and abstract selection. The submitted abstracts will be provided feedback by the reviewers so that the students will have the opportunity to incorporate the feedback given to them and resubmit a revised abstract. The goal of this exercise is to help students hone their abstract writing skills for a scientific audience.
After the second round of submissions, the abstracts for contributed talks will be selected based on their scientific merits, and the meeting schedule published. All contributed talks will have the same duration, which will be decided based on the amount of selected talks. Talks will be grouped in sessions by topic.

Additionally, we will have a professional development session (Pro Dev), instrumentation lab tours, a scientific discussion session, and poster sessions during the ESDAS meeting. Suggestions for Pro Dev topics are very welcome. Please contact the SOC (eas [at] astro [dot] unam [dot] mx).
