Welcome to this week's Round-Up
It's been a very busy couple of weeks since my last Round-up and lots of exciting learning as been happening at Aston Lodge. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our sponsored walk and thanks to everyone's generosity, we managed to raise £495! We now have our 'thermometer' in the entrance and will keep you updated as our funds increase - a reminder that we're hoping to replace our outdoor classroom and donations can still be made via Parentpay.
We took full advantage of the continuing 'unseasonal' weather with Y6 practising their tag rugby skills and Year 1 making homes for Bog Baby!
We loved sharing our Generations Morning with so many of you and were blown away by how productive you all were. Some pictures are added below and of our poppies display that you have all now contributed to. We look forwarded to welcoming in our male relatives for their surprise activity in February - it'll be here before we know it!
It's hard to believe we're just two weeks away from our first half-term holiday, but we've got loads of exciting things planned to keep the children busy, productive and learning!
We thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Pride of Yorkshire Event and being able to make the whopping contribution we did, to Sheffield Children's Hospital (£3,675). Our cub came home today and looks like it was always meant to be here!
Attendance
As we continue into the school year and are having to begin to deal with some nasty viruses and seasonal ailments, we want to take this opportunity to highlight the vital role of consistently good attendance at school.
We know deciding whether to keep a child home when they’re under the weather can be tricky! If your child feels well enough after taking medicine, we encourage you to send them in. Our staff keep a very close eye on all the children throughout the day, and if your child isn't up to participating, we will always call you right away. We just want to make sure they don't miss out on important learning and fun with their friends unless it's truly necessary
Being in school means your child stays connected with their peers, is engaged in their learning and on track to reach their full potential. The table below shows the impact thatmissing school can have on your child’s education:
This week
Unfortunately we've shown a decrease this week and we're hoping that everyone manages to recover this weekend so we can get back up to 95%+ next week.
The final figures this week are as follows:
FS2: 80% Year1: 86.8% Year 2: 93% Year 3: 94.5% Year 4: 93.8% Year 5: 87.2% Year 6: 89.1%
Well done to Y4 for maintaining 93.8%
We had a very producitve PTFA meeting yesterday, albeit with a very small group of us.
It's hard to believe we're already thinking about Christmas, but we know how quickly time will go once we're back after the holiday.
We will therefore be holding a Christmas fair planning meeting on Wednesday 4th November, 9:00am (drop-off). Please come and join us for a cuppa, a chat and to share some ideas for this year's fair!
If we hear the children using these words, see them in their writing or spotting them in their reading books, they will receive Dojos!
Next weeks words are:
KS1: alter
KS2: complext, conflict, consequences
We hope all of our family and friends, who attended this week's Generations Morning, are very proud of their handy work and the contribution they have made to our Remembrance display.
It's been lovely to hear the children starting to talk about poppies and remembrance today, rather than it being something that is rushed before our time in church after half term!
Thank you for attending, for your feedback and for your wonderful contribution!
