Welcome to this week's Round-Up!
It was lovely to see everyone back this week - they all look smart and seem to have had a great half-term break!
Our Y6's had a geat residential visit to Whitby, despite the change in the weather! They made the most of all the wonderful opportunities that the visit gave them and could not be faulted in how they represented Aston Lodge Primary! We do need to say a huge 'thank you' to Miss Jenkinson and Miss Woodger-Galeel for organising such a wonderful trip and for giving up so much of their own time to make the visit possible! A big thank you also to Mr Marsh for making the journey to join in the visit as well! We know the children are looking forward to the Trust residential in a couple of weeks time which will provide them with different experiences and the opportunity to work and socialise with students from other Trust schools.
Our foundation stage children have begun to explore life in the ocean and in particular this week, life in a rock pool. We know they've thoroughly enjoyed the water activities as well as learning their new 'sea life' vocabulary and number activities. I am sure they will be able to make a valuable contribution to our Masterchef theme on Friday, with all their knowledge about life in the ocean.
We have been especially pleased with the amazing attitudes of a number of our Y5 pupils this week. We have seen a good level of maturity and an enthusiasm around particiaption and taking on responsibilities. As we begin to think about their transition into Y6 this gives us lots to consider in terms of the leadership opportunities that we offer the students next year!
We have been very proud of our Y1 and Y4 pupils as they make final preparations and practice for their statufory phonics and multiplication screening. Of course, it's not just about them passing a test, but the strong foundations this gives them for fluency in maths and reading and we can't fault them for the effort they have put into this work.
We are looking forward to a very exciting week next week with necessary and important assessments, balanced with wonderful learning and personal development opportunities with our Wizard of Oz day (Thursday) and Masterchef day (Friday). We hope to see amazing attendance next week to ensure our children do not miss out!
Attendance
Consistency is the heartbeat of our thriving school community, and regular attendance is the single most important factor in ensuring your child feels confident, connected, and ready to learn.
Every day in the classroom is a chance to spark a new interest and build lasting friendships—thank you for your continued support in making every school day count!
This week's attendance:
School overall: 92%
FS1: 93.5% Year 3: 90.5%
FS2: 96.1% Year 4: 83.6%
Year 1: 95.9% Year 5: 85.8%
Year 2: 97.1% Year 6: 86.3%
Well done to all our 'green' classes whose overall attendance has improved from last week. Congratulations to Year 2, who will get to roll the monopoly dice again this week! We are delighted with KS1 and foundation stage who have, overall, achieved an attendance average of: 96% - well done to you all!
Congratulations to all those children who managed to attend every day last week - 68% of you achieved 100% attendance. This is a sligh drop from previous weeks - let's see if we can get it to pick up this week!
With hayfever season and a few viruses circling, please remember that these are not reasons to keep children at home. Children can be sent into school with a cough, cold, sore throat, etc and we'll keep a close eye on them.
When submitting a 'leave of absence request' please could you let Mrs Bulloss know so that we can make sure we get back to you straight away with the outcome.
A reminder that the online form is available on the school website or follow the link below:

A big 'well done' do all our award winners this week! We are very proud of you all!
It was also lovely to share in achievements from home as well as our pupils working really hard to ensure they take pride in their presentation and handwriting with the award of their 'pen licence'.
With the tragic events from over half term, we have been exploring water safety and how we can enjoy water safely, with the students.
We have sent home several communications with regard to this (via Dojo and email). Please do get in touch if there is any of this you haven't received.
We hope you find it useful. We will continue to revisit this topic over the next few weeks and eventually, as we move into the summer holiday.
Our rehearsals are now in full swing and all the cast members will have rehearsed on a number of occasions by the end of the week. Thank you to those of you who have managed to acquire costumes and send them into school.
Please can I ask that all costumes are sent into school by 25th June. This will allow us time to check costumes ahead of our dress rehearsal on 6th July. We urge you to get in touch asap if you think you may not be able to provide part of, or the whole costume, so that we are able to assist with this ahead of the dress rehearsal. Thank you.
We are hoping that tickets will be on sale from 1st July.
A reminder that our lion cub 'Roar for Yorkshire' is now taking pride of place at Meadowhall. Please share your photos with us if you manage to pay it a visit!
