Welcome to this week's Round-Up
I would like to start this week's Round-up by saying a very big 'thank you' for the incredible support shown for our MacMillan Coffee morning today. Although it's never ideal to have buns for breakfast (well done to all those children who managed to resist the temptation and save their cake for break time), there was a lovely atmosphere around the MacMillan table this morning and your generosity was so greatly appreciated. We look forward to sharing with you the grand total of monies raised, once we've added it all up!
We were incredibly proud of each and every child when they visited church for 'Experience Harvest' this week. They enaged really well with the activities, listened well to all the adults and demonstrated the high standard of behaviour we are always striving for them to achieve! We are looking forward to them showing this again when we attend church for our Harvest Service next week - please don't forget to send in those Harvest donations (see below).
Our ambassadors took part in online leadership training on Thursday and are buzzing with ideas of how they can lead weekly assemblies and encourage pupils to engage with the great work they are planning. We look forward to being able to update you as to what they've been up to.
We've also formed our Anti-bullying team who have voted for the name: Roary's Pride Protection Team - RPPT! Congratulations to:
Tonie; Darcie-Mae; Heid; Sophia; Joshua; Joseph; Jacob; Logan; Patricia; Willow - we know you'll do fantastic work!
We would like to present our non-perishable items to Church following our special Harvest Service next week.
Any donations to help us support local families would be warmly welcomed!
Thank you in advance.
Attendance
As we begin a new school year and welcome students for another busy term, we want to take this opportunity to highlight the vital role of consistently good attendance at school.
Being in school means your child stays connected with their peers, is engaged in their learning and on track to reach their full potential. The table below shows the impact thatmissing school can have on your child’s education:
This week
We're back up to 95.6% attendance last week - thank you and well done for the commitment shown to getting the children to school on time, every day!
The final figures this week are as follows:
FS2: 100% Year1: 95.4% Year 2: 98.5% Year 3: 96.9% Year 4: 93.8% Year 5: 93.6% Year 6: 92.9%
Well done to our 'green' classes for their amazing improvement!
Nominations are now open for the WPT People's Choice Award and we would like you to nominate a member of staff who you feel is deserving of this award!
The WPT Staff Awards is an evening of celebration which recognises the hard work, commitment and dedication that our staff put in every day to ensure the best possible education and outcomes for students.
This year, we once again have a People's Choice Award category and we need your help in deciding the winner!
Has a member of staff gone out of their way to help you, your child, or your community? Does your child's teacher go above and beyond?*
Help us recognise the work our staff do by nominting them for a Staff Award by copying the link below into your address bar, or using the link attached to the 'Round-up' :
Nominations close on Friday 9th October at 8am and the results will be published in December.
Thank you for taking the time to recognise the important work our staff do everyday.
If we hear the children using these words, see them in their writing or spotting them in their reading books, they will receive Dojos!
Next weeks words are:
KS1: acquire
KS2: capable, category, brief
We are excited to announce plans to set up a Parents, Teachers, and Friends Association (PTFA) for our school community! A PTFA is a fantastic way to bring families together, host fun events for the children, and raise valuable funds for school projects and resources.
We would love to invite anyone interested in getting involved to an informal kick-off meeting on Thursday 8th October at 3:30 pm (don't worry if you have your children with you, we'll give them something to do to keep them busy).
If you can’t make the meeting—there will be plenty of opportunities to contribute in different ways, whether you can spare an hour at an event, share a creative skill, or help behind the scenes. If you’d like to be involved but can't attend, please get in touch via office@astonlodgeprimary.org to let us know.
Please could we ask all parents and carers to refrain from vaping or smoking directly outside the school gates and along the main boundary pathways.
Children, staff, and other parents must walk through these areas during peak drop-off and collection times. For families of children with severe asthma or chest conditions, lingering vape plumes cause real anxiety and health concerns.
We kindly ask everyone to step well clear of the school perimeter before vaping to keep the air clean and welcoming for all our pupils.
Thank you
