Welcome to this week's Round-Up!
We thought summer had well and truly landed this week! However, in typical "bank holiday" style, it seems we will have to wait just a little bit longer for those consistently warmer days to arrive. Despite the unpredictable weather, the atmosphere inside school has been nothing short of bright and purposeful.
It has been another week filled with wonderful learning opportunities and rich experiences. As part of Wickersley Partnership Trust, we pride ourselves on the entitlement offer we provide for our children to develop 'skills for life' as well as those that help build their character and confidence. We were delighted to host first aid training this week and it was fantastic to see so many of our families getting involved alongside the children. Our "reading breakfast" provided a wonderful start to the day, and across the school, hands-on learning continues to bring the curriculum to life.
Of course, there has also been a focused energy as we make those final preparations for our upcoming KS2 SATs and the Year 4 multiplication check. We are incredibly proud of the hard work the children have put in. We are looking forward to the next couple of weeks—not just because it is a chance for our pupils to "shine" and showcase everything they can do, but also because of the exciting events we have planned for them to enjoy as a reward for their dedication.
Thank you for your continued support, and let’s hope for some sunshine soon!
Consistency is the heartbeat of our thriving school community, and regular attendance is the single most important factor in ensuring your child feels confident, connected, and ready to learn.
Every day in the classroom is a chance to spark a new interest and build lasting friendships—thank you for your continued support in making every school day count!

We have seen a big improvement all round this week, so well done to everyone! Our winning class this week is Year 5, who will get to roll the Monopoly dice next week!
We have seen a slight decline in the number of our children who attended every day last week - 120 of our children (67%) of our children attended school every day last week and earned their 'golden ticket' - well done to you all!
With hayfever season and a few viruses circling, please remember that these are not reasons to keep children at home. Children can be sent into school with a cough, cold, sore throat, etc and we'll keep a close eye on them.
A big 'well done' do all our award winners this week! We are very proud of you all!
It was also lovely to share in achievements from home as well as our pupils working really hard to ensure they take pride in their presentation and handwriting with the award of their 'pen licence'.
We had a fantastic response to our children wanting to name our new mascot and there were some really great ideas that the children had put a lot of thought into.
Congratulations to Annabelle and Amber from Y6 - both suggested the name 'Roary' - we love it and know that it will capture those skills and tools that he stands for:
· P.R.I.D.E Power Skills: Presentation, Resilience, Involvement, Drive, and Effort.
· R.E.A.C.H Navigation Tools: Respect, Enthusiasm, Aspiration, Co-operation, and Happiness.
On Friday 8th May we will be helping Sir David Attenborough celebrate his 100th birthday! To mark this special birthday, children will be able to dress in their own 'adventurous clothes' - this could be dressing in green, as an explorer, animal, or even a zoologist!
We will be giving out certificates for the best dressed in each year group.
So that we can continue to go on our own 'adventures' we are asking for a £1 donation for this which will go towards our school trips and to help update our school outdoor areas.
I have no doubt the children will have an amazing day as they will go on animal hunts, nature walks and complete lots of fun science activities!
Happy birthday Sir David!
Since joining the school in January, I had a number of parents approach me with regards to safety outside of school and to share the consensus that we have been in need of a school crossing patrol for some time.
As with any matters relating to safeguarding and the safety of our pupils, we have taken these concerns very seriously and I am now delighted to be able to share with you that the local authority is in currently in the final stages of finalising the recruitment of our school crossing patrol.
We are looking forward to this invaluable new appointment and to that little extra reassurance it will bring.
We do ask that our families continue to show vigilance and the utmost regard for the safety around school, of all of our children and families. Thank you.
Please feel free to send in your child's costume as soon as you have it!
We'll be only too happy to help if you are having any difficulty in obtaining any part of the costume - please just let use know!
Thank you
Our first Aston Lodge's Got Talent will take place on Friday 15th May.
We will be holding 'auditions' during next week and selecting finalists for our show on the Friday! We ask that you encourage your child to take part and support them (by asking us if need be) with music, props and resources!
Absolutely anything goes - we know that ther are some hidden talents waiting to be discovered and we can't wait to see these reveal themselves!
This event has been specifically planned to take place during SATs week - not only do we know how important it is for our pupils' personal development, but, we want to demonstrate that we wholeheartedly believe that the National Tests only 'measure' a small element of our pupils' talents, abilities and skills!
