Welcome to this week's Round-Up!
It's been a very busy, but productive week this week and one which we are confident the children thoroughly enjoyed. It saw them giving their all during our Wizard of Oz rehearsals and showing their creativity in the production of props and scener. They then went on to show fantastic team work, collaboration and creativy with their suggestions of dishes, menus and 'theming' during our Masterchef competition.
Congratulations must go to our Masterchef winners - Côte d'Ivoire. They will be invited to their very own pizza party - date to be confirmed this week.
This was balanced with our Y1 children completing their phonics screenin check and Y4 their multiplication check - I'd like to say a very big 'well done' to all these children as they took it their stride and did their absolute best, as that's all we ever expect!
As we move into our third week of the term, our Y6's are lookin forward to their second residential and we have another week of lots of excting things planned - from our Teddy Bear's picnic in Y1, to staff showing us their hidden talents and our family fitness morning on Wednesday!
Attendance
Consistency is the heartbeat of our thriving school community, and regular attendance is the single most important factor in ensuring your child feels confident, connected, and ready to learn.
Every day in the classroom is a chance to spark a new interest and build lasting friendships—thank you for your continued support in making every school day count!
This week's attendance:
School overall: 92.8%
FS1: 88.5% Year 3: 90.5%
FS2: 94.3% Year 4: 90.9%
Year 1: 96.2% Year 5: 94.6%
Year 2: 96.4% Year 6: 84.7%
We are a little disapponted with our attendance this week as there has been a drop in our overall percentage, as well as most classes!
Well done to all our 'green' classes whose overall attendance has improved from last week. Congratulations to Year 1, who will get to roll the monopoly dice again this week!
Congratulations to all those children who managed to attend every day last week - 71% of you achieved 100% attendance which is a 3% increase from last week.
We appreciate that some absence is unavoidable, but are really determined to work with our families to ensure our children attend school regularly so as not to miss out on the fantastic opportunities that we are providing for them!
It is with sadness that we bid farewell to Mrs Fearn when she leaves us in a couple of week's time. Mrs Fearn has decided to move on to a new adventure, in a promotion post in the private education sector.
Mrs Fearn has made a wonderful contribution to Aston Lodge Primary School, from helping to give our youngest children the best start to their education, to the pastoral support and care she has given through the Hamish and Milo programme. She will be missed by staff, parents and pupils and I am sure you will join me in wishing Mrs Fearn much success as she moves on to her new role!
When submitting a 'leave of absence request' please could you let Mrs Bulloss know so that we can make sure we get back to you straight away with the outcome.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have a created a game designed to get families thinking about how they would escape should the worst happen and they experience a house fire. On completion of the game, there is the chance to download a template so that families can make their own escape plan.
The game is inspired by classic arcade video games and there are exciting prizes up for grabs for those taking part - including a grand prize of a Nintendo Switch 2!
See the attached link to find out more and how to play the game.
A reminder that all costumes should be sent into school by 25th June. This will allow us time to check costumes ahead of our dress rehearsal on 6th July.
We urge you to get in touch asap if you think you may not be able to provide part of, or the whole costume, so that we are able to assist with this ahead of the dress rehearsal. Thank you.
We are hoping that tickets will be on sale from 1st July.
When we first sent out our 'expression of interest' form and asked parents to sign children up for Young Voices 2026, we had an overwhelming response. We have therefore reserved 55 seats at Sheffield Arena.
We understand, it seems a long way off and, at the time of our original communication, we didn't have the concert date.
We can now confirm that our concert will take place on 24th February and we are inviting children continue to join our Young Voices group - this is open to children who will be in Y3-Y6 next year and who enjoy music, singing and dancing. For any children who aren't sure, we invite them to come to one our after school sessions on Thursdays - 3:15-4:15.
Even though the concert is in February, we get our group together now so that we can share the songs with the children as it always helpful for them to begin to familiarise themselves with the songs over the summer. We have to confirm our final numbers in September and then organise our tickets and t-shirts!
We look forward to hopefully seeing our Young Voices group grow, as this is one of the most amazing experiences your child will enjoy whilst at primary school.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch should you have any questions.
