Over the course of 2023, we ran multiple programs including Afterschool, Girls Maker Night, Saturday Crafternoons, Hack the Future, Day Camps, Learning Parties, and Youth Maker Nights. Through these programs, students were able to explore their interests and develop skills in a safe environment.
This year, students were able to cover a wide range of activities. They learned about making miniatures, making robotic stuffed animals, the science of paper airplanes, and much more. We hosted multiple guest experts throughout the year to share their experiences with the students and help build career connections. These guests included organizations like CodeJoy, an interactive experience where kids learn coding skills while controlling cardboard robots on the computer. We also focused on developing skills that could be used in future careers, such as coding, learning robotics with Hummingbird robotics kits, and 3D printing. During Girls Maker Night, students were able to explore story and character development through a multi-week lesson focused on the tabletop roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons.

In 2023 Assemble became a Brick by Brick partner. This program provides training and LEGO kits intending to support social-emotional learning development; through collaboration on kits, students learn teamwork, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.

We saw increased participation across the board for most Assemble programs. There was a huge increase in Day Camp attendance, growing from 226 participants in 2022 to 325 participants in 2023. This increase was largely due to an increase in the number of students per camp from 15 students to 20 students. 2023 camp themes included Vet Camp, Circus Camp, and Game Design. Adult programming has continued to see increased participation. In 2023 we had a total of 170 participants between our 21+ nights and partnership with Two Frays.
The only Assemble program to see a decrease in participation was Crafternoons. We saw a huge participant increase in 2022 with a total of 322 participants. In 2023 we had a total of 238 participants in Crafternoons.
