Dr. Fernado Marzo Jr. and M. Jeremie Castro, who are part of the faculty at ASSCAT, were in attendance at the inaugural National Soil Health Summit. This summit, led by the Department of Agriculture (DA) in conjunction with the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), sought to introduce a more systematic and comprehensive approach to addressing soil health issues in the country. The primary goal of the first NSHS was to encourage the sustainable use and effective management of soil resources to enhance crop productivity and the income of local farmers.
The overarching theme of the Summit, 'Securing Food and Nutrition Security Through Healthy Soils,' aimed to foster partnerships and enhance collaboration with various stakeholders involved in the implementation of strategies to improve soil health and agricultural productivity in the nation.
