Children's Literature (English Core Elective)

This elective explores the creative world of Children's Literature, delving into timeless classics and contemporary works. From fables to fiction, to historical novels, to young adult books, students will analyze the impact of literature on young minds, encouraging moral values and empathy. Within a Christian worldview, this course emphasize the importance of cultivating a love for stories that promote virtues such as compassion, honesty, and kindness.

Yearbook (11th & 12th Grade)

Yearbook class provides students with the creative opportunity to capture memories and celebrate the journey of their academic year. Through photography, design, and writing, they compile a unique keepsake for the school community. Within a Christian perspective, this elective will encourage students to recognize and celebrate God's grace and blessings throughout the school year, acknowledging the importance of gratitude and humility in cherishing and preserving memories.

Students will also explore the rich history of Seventh-day Adventist Hymnology and how music can convey powerful messages and emotions, influencing individuals and societies.

Digital Citizenship delves into the responsible and ethical use of technology in today's interconnected world. Students will explore topics such as online etiquette, internet safety, privacy, and the impact of digital footprints. This independent course equips students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital landscape with integrity and wisdom. From a Christian perspective, this elective will encourage students to view their online presence as an extension of their character and values. Emphasizing empathy, respect, and compassion in online interactions, students will learn to be positive digital citizens who reflect the teachings of Christ in both physical and digital realms. Videography

Videography immerses students in the art and technique of creating compelling videos. From scripting and filming to editing and post-production, students will learn the entire process of storytelling through visuals. Within a Christian worldview, this course will encourage students to use the power of storytelling to communicate messages of hope, redemption, and transformation. By learning to craft narratives that align with biblical values, students can engage in visual storytelling that resonates with audiences on a deeper level. This elective also offers the opportunity to reflect on how media can be used to inspire, educate, and positively influence individuals and communities.

Spanish 1 & 2 (WHOLE YEAR)

Spanish 1 & 2 are year-long elective that introduce students to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. Through interactive language learning activities, students will develop basic vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills. Within a Christian worldview, this course could emphasize the value of language diversity and the importance of effective communication in fostering understanding and compassion among different cultures. Spanish 1 is only available for students who passed Spanish 2 with a C or higher.

Physical Education is a year-long, independent course that focuses on promoting physical fitness, health, and well-being. Students engage in various physical activities, sports, and exercises, fostering teamwork and discipline. From a Christian perspective, this elective will encourage students to appreciate their bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit and to steward their physical health responsibly. Additionally, students will explore the importance of sportsmanship, fairness, and the idea of "running the race" as a metaphor for perseverance in their faith journey.
