Henry Carroll
Carroll is a photographer and bestselling writer who wrote the book HUMANS: Photographs That Make You Think. This book depicts the human existence in a unique and startlingly lucid way. It examines "what it means to be human in a rapidly changing world." I like the way Carroll approached the book, with literature and photography intertwined. It's one of the books that inspired the interview format of this project.
Brandon Stanton
Stanton is the writer and photographer behind what the Washington Post calls "One of the most influential art projects of the decade." He wrote Humans, Humans of New York: Stories, and Humans of New York. In these books, he interviewed and photographed thousands of people in dozens of different countries. These projects create a picture of daily life. They highlight mundanity and feature everyday people. I drew further inspiration from these projects and strived to capture the everyday reality of womanhood in my project.
