Abstract of Journal Focus
Computers & Education aims to increase knowledge and understanding of ways in which digital technology can enhance education, through the publication of high-quality research, which extends theory and practice. The Editors welcome research papers on the pedagogical uses of digital technology, where the focus is broad enough to be of interest to a wider education community. They do not publish small-scale evaluations of specific software/systems in specialist domains or particular courses in individual institutions (unless the findings have broader relevance that is explicitly drawn out in the paper). Papers that include discussions of the implementation of software and/or hardware should focus on the context of use, the user/system interface, usability issues and evaluations of the user experience and impacts on and particularly on the implications for learning and teaching. Computers as a delivery platform only is insufficient. Detailed information on implementation architecture should NOT be included in the paper, but may be provided via URLs. The journal welcomes systematic review papers and meta-analyses that include clear research questions, a framework of analysis, and conclusions that reflect the aims of the paper.

The focus of ET&S is not only technology per se, but rather issues related to the process continuum of learning, teaching, and assessment and how they are affected or enhanced using technologies. The empirical research about how technology can be used to overcome the existing problems in the frontline of local education with findings that can be applied to the global spectrum is also welcome. However, papers with only descriptions of the results obtained from self-report surveys without systematic or empirical data or any analysis on learning outcomes or processes are not favorable to be included in ET&S.

AJN publishes original research, quality improvement (QI), and review articles as CE and feature articles. AJN also publishes shorter, focused columns. Submissions must be evidence-based and are peer reviewed. Clinical features should cover epidemiology, pathology, current research, “what’s new” in knowledge and/or treatment, and nursing implications. Feature articles are usually 5,000 to 8,000 words. Columns are shorter, focused papers of 2,000 to 3,000 words. These columns include Emerging Infections, Disaster Care, Environments and Health, Correspondence from Abroad (international topics/visits), In the Community, Policy and Politics, Professional Development, A Question of Practice (revisiting nursing care). Cultivating Quality is the section for QI reports. Authors should follow the Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence (SQUIRE) guidelines as detailed in our author guidelines. In addition, they welcome opinion pieces (Viewpoint); narratives (Reflections); and poetry and visual art related to nursing, health, and the human experience (Art of Nursing).

Clinical Nurse Specialist™ publishes scholarly works by clinical nurse specialists and other advanced practice nurses whose manuscripts advance the practice of nursing.
