Philosophical Approach to Grievances
All ASLIA members are bound to follow the CASLI Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Professional Conduct available in ASL, English, and French for the public to access.
The approach ASLIA takes to address grievances about interpreters’ conduct is from a place of seeking to make amends and to encourage learning and growth.
As a mediated dialogical process, ASLIA trained facilitators will attempt to create a non-confrontational, collaborative space for the parties to share their concerns and perspectives.
The goal will be to reach a consensus regarding the actions, if any, to be subsequently taken by the member interpreter.
