On May 17, 2023, Mr. Poowin Bunyavejchewin, a professional researcher, and Miss Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a researcher, from the Institute of East Asian Studies, participated in presenting an article in the Workshop on "Area Studies as a Discipline." The event was organized by the Institute for International and Area Studies, Tsinghua University, and took place at the Banyat Surakanwit Meeting Room, Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus.
On May 12, 2023, Ms. Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, participated in the “Workshop to Commemorate 50th Year of ASEAN – Japan Friendship and Cooperation, shaping Future Vision of ASEAN-Japan Friendship through Science, Technology and Innovation Coordinators towards 2050” at Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao. 

Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, assistant director for research affairs at the Institute of East Asian Studies, attended the ASEAN Fellowship Program to study cultural aspects and develop networks related to Asian Studies in Cambodia from April 19 to April 22, 2023. The program was arranged by the ASEAN Studies Centre, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. 


The Institute of East Asian Studies organized a roundtable discussion for exchange and guidance in creating the book series "Foreign Affairs in East Asia: Continuity and Change in the 21st Century" on April 24, 2023, at the Alpha Square meeting room of Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square. The event was supported by the Thailand Academy of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts (TASSHA). 
On March 31, 2023, Mr. Jintavat Sirirat, a professional researcher, and Miss Orawan Nugprachaya, a researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, were invited as guest speakers for the course “BI321 Business and Strategy in Asia" at the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Thammasat University under the topic "Case Study: Logistics-High-Speed Rail and Business Opportunities in Asia”. 

  

On March 24, 2023, Miss Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, was invited as a guest speaker for the course “BI321 Business and Strategy in Asia" at the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Thammasat University under the topic "Exploring the Development of Smart Cities in South Korea: Lessons and Opportunities for Thai Businesses." 

 



On March 17, 2023, Dr. Watunyu Jaiborisudhi, a professional researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, was invited as a guest lecturer for the course “BI321 Business and Strategy in Asia " at the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Thammasat University. The topic of the lecture was "Case Study: One Village One Product (OVOP) from Japan - A Model of OTOP in Thailand." 
On March 30, 2023, Miss Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, represented the institute in attending a focus group discussion on country policy planning regarding regional connectivity with other countries. The meeting took place at Room 2101, Building 2, 1st floor, Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, Bangkok. 

On March 15, 2023, Miss Orawan Nugprachaya, a researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, participated as a host in the event "Morning Talk: Decoding the Challenges of the Modern Automotive Industry towards Sustainable Economic Goals." The event took place at the Ballroom, 38th Floor, Pullman Hotel, Bangkok.

On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, Dr. Watunyu Jaiborisudhi was a guest speaker alongside Associate Professor Dr. Dulyapak Preecharush at the Southeast Asia Film Festival 2023. The festival's theme was "Hero & Heroine: Southeast Asia Leaders," and they participated in a seminar on the film "The Lady." The event took place in the Central Seminar Hall at the Institute of East Asian Studies. 

On March 2-3, 2023, Mr. Poowin Bunyavejchewin, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, participated as a speaker in an academic seminar with the topic "Phitsanulok on Strategic Shift: The Reflection of Thailand’s New Geopolitics." The event took place at The Imperial Hotel and Convention Centre Phitsanulok, organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Naresuan University. 


On February 8, 2023, Mr. Poowin Bunyavejchewin, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, presented the academic paper titled "Exclusion as the Logic of Regional Group Formation." Additionally, Mr. Darren de la Torre Mangado from De La Salle University, Manila, Visiting Researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, co-presented the academic paper titled "Southeast Asia In Between the US-Japan and China Regional (Re)Ordering Schemes." These presentations took place at the Comparative Regionalism Workshop: VUCA World and Changing Regional Configuration. 
On December 22, 2022, Assistant Professor Dr. Chaiwat Meesanthan, Director of the Institute of East Asian Studies, and Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, Assistant Director for Research Affairs, met and discussed collaborative research cooperation in the future with representatives from the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand and the Korea Tourism Organization. 

On December 15, 2022, Mr. Poowin Bunyavejchewin, a professional researcher, was invited to be a guest speaker for the students majoring in Myanmar Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Naresuan University. The topic of the lecture was "Debates and Research Question Formulation," held in Room HU 4305, Faculty of Humanities, Naresuan University. 


On December 11, 2022s, Ms. Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a researcher from IEAS, participated in presenting a research paper titled "South Korea’s Human Resource Development for Sustainable Smart Cities: Recommendations for Thai-South Korean Cooperation" at the 15th Asian Political and International Studies Association Annual Congress (APISA2022), an international academic conference held under the theme "World on Fire: Wither International Cooperation?" at Chiang Mai University. 
On December 7, 2022, Assistant Professor Dr. Chaiwat Meesanthan, Director of Institute of East Asian Studies, and Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, Assistant Director for Research Affairs, met with Mr. Kim Dong Wook, Director of the Korean Education Center, to discuss collaborative research cooperation in the future. 

On November 18, 2022, Ms. Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, delivered an Online Expert Lecture Series to the Central University of Himachal Pradesh Sapt-Sindhu Parisar, Dehra Department of Political Science, India. The lecture was titled "International Cooperation between Thailand and India in the Digital Era: Lessons from Thailand – South Korea Cooperation on Smart City." 


On December 6, 2022, a video of an online seminar was published based on the research work titled "Analysis of China's Educational Assistance to Cambodia in the 2010s." by Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, in collaboration with Professor Kaki Ut, an expert in Cambodia studies from the Army Training Command Language Center. The event was organized by the Borommaratchakumari Chinese Learning Center. 
On November 18, 2022, Mr. Hassan Abukasem from The Cambodia Daily (a national news outlet on social media, DC Senior Anchor) met with Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong and researchers from the institute to discuss the issues concerning the relationship between Cambodia and the United States, and the relationship between Cambodia and China. 

Mr. Jintavat Sirirat, a professional researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, was interviewed regarding high-speed trains and the roles of Chinese and Thai railways in promoting the development of people's lives and the Thai economy. The interview also covered perspectives on the connectivity of the Chinese-Thai railway network and the Chinese-Lao railway. On November 25, 2022, Mr. Jintavat Sirirat, a professional researcher, participated as a speaker in an online panel discussion on the topic "J.League, Thai League: The Importance of Japan-Thailand Relations." He was joined by Mr. Pramoonchai Nopsuwanwong, representing Buriram United Football Club, and Mr. Wathana Onpanich from The Japan Foundation. The event was hosted by Dr. Watunyu Jaiborisudhi, another professional researcher. This discussion was organized by the Center for Japanese Studies at the Institute of East Asian Studies. 
On October 7, 2022, Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong and Ms. Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, researchers from the Institute of East Asian Studies, participated in an observation trip of the Korean agency and acquainted themselves with relevant individuals for fostering Thai-Korean cooperation in smart city development at EECi Wangchan Valley, Rayong. This study tour was part of the "Thailand-Korea Economic Cooperation Forum & Smart City Day" event. 

On October 4, 2022, Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, a professional researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, participated in presenting research titled “South Korea’s International Education Aid to Cambodia in the 2010s: An Analysis of Characteristic and Approach” in Korean Studies Annual Workshop 2022 at Room 103, Maha Chulalongkorn Building, Chulalongkorn University, organized by Asia Research Center, Institute of Asian Studies Chulalongkorn University. 

On September 19, 2022, the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, in collaboration with Thammasat University Research Unit in History and International Politics, organized a special lecture titled "Boys Love Media in Thailand" at The Connection Seminar Center. The event featured guest speaker Dr. Thomas Baudinette from Macquarie University, Australia, and Visiting Researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, alongside Mr. Poowin Bunyavejchewin, a professional researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kornphanat Tungkeunkunt, a faculty member from the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University. 
On September 12, 2022, the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, participated in an educational exchange visit with the International Studies Center, Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs to foster academic cooperation and collaborative learning between the two institutions. 

On September 12, 2022, Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, a professional researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, served as a speaker for NT Academy, National Telecom Public Company Limited, to give a lecture on the topic "Experiences of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Potential for Economic and Social Development of Countries in ASEAN." The lecture took place at the Auditorium Room, Kanchanaphisek Building, National Telecom Public Company Limited. 

Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, a professional researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, presented the research paper titled "South Korea Education Aid to Cambodia in the 2010s: Characteristics and Operations Analysis" at The 8th International Joint Conference on Korean Studies and Thai Studies on September 1, 2022, at Ramkhamhaeng University. 

The Institute of East Asian Studies organized a Knowledge Management program on research topics such as "Research Question Development/Research Proposal and Research Fund Management." The event took place on August 25, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Phaisith Phipatanakuls Seminar Room, 1st floor, Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University (Rangsit Center). The keynote speaker for the event was Professor Dr. Isra Sarntisart, former Director of the National Policy and International Relations Division, Thailand Research Fund (TRF). 

The Institute of East Asian Studies organized a seminar to present a research titled "A SWOT Analysis of International Cooperation in Smart City Development between South Korea and Thailand: Perspectives from Thailand”. The seminar was held on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., via the ZOOM Cloud Meetings platform. The presentation of the research findings was conducted by Ms. Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies. 

Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, participated in presenting a research paper titled "Enhancing ASEAN Community Educational Cooperation through a Thailand-Indonesia School Partnership Program: Policy and Practice" at The 12th EuroSEAS conference 2022, organized by the European Association for Southeast Asian Studies (EuroSEAS), held from June 28 to July 1, 2022. The presentation was supported by funding for academic presentations, creative works, and innovative inventions abroad for the fiscal year 2022 (3rd round) from Thammasat University Research Fund. 

On July 1, 2022, Miss Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, participated in presenting an academic work in an online format titled "A SWOT Analysis of International Cooperation in Smart City Development between South Korea and Thailand: Perspectives from Thailand " at the 15th National 2nd International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences under the theme "Adaptability in the Humanities and Social Sciences in the VUCA World." The event was organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Burapha University. 

The Institute of East Asian Studies congratulates Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, for having their research article published in the International Education Journal: Comparative Perspectives, Vol. 21, No. 1, 2022. This journal is indexed in the Scopus database. The article is titled "China’s International Education Aid to Cambodia in the 2010s: Situation Analysis and Trends." 

Assistant Professor Dr. Chaiwat Meesanthan, Director of the Institute of East Asian Studies, along with the institute's research team, welcomed Mr. Suriyan Vichitlekarn, Director of the Mekong Institute, for a discussion on academic collaboration. The meeting took place on June 14, 2022, at the Reception Room of the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus. 

Assistant Professor Dr. Chaiwat Meesanthan, Director of the Institute of East Asian Studies, and Associate Professor Dr. Dulyapak Preecharush, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, together with the research team, extended a warm welcome to Major General Pratuang Piyakapho, Director of the Strategic Studies Center, along with the executives and researchers from the Strategic Studies Center, National Defence Studies Institute. They participated in a research exchange and academic collaboration program under the theme "Roles and Trends of Major Powers in Southeast Asia" alongside researchers from the Institute of East Asian Studies. The event took place on June 13, 2022, at the Phaisith Phipatanakuls Seminar Room, Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus.

The executives of the Institute of East Asian Studies, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Chaiwat Meesanthan, Director of the Institute, along with the research faculty, participated in a research project aimed at seeking funding opportunities. They engaged in field visits, exchanged academic insights, and collaborated with the Strategic Studies Center, National Defence Studies Institute, led by Major General Pratuang Piyakapho, Director of the Center. The event took place on May 31, 2022, at Meeting Room 1, National Defence Studies Institute. 

On May 11, 2022, Associate Professor Dr. Dulyapak Preecharush, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the Institute of East Asian Studies, and Miss Orawan Nugprachaya, a researcher from the same institution, jointly presented a special lecture on the topic of "Developing Logistic Links in the Region for the Security of the Thai Seas." The event was organized by the Advanced Academic Branch of the Naval Education Department, held at Conference Room 138 of the Naval Education Department. 

"Environmental Learning Management in Response to Thailand’s Policy Driving Education Towards the ASEAN Community: Analyzing Policy Implementation" by Dr. Ampa Kaewkamkong. This article is a part of the research project titled “International collaboration policy for driving education towards ASEAN Community: A case study of the School Partnership Program between Thailand and Indonesia.” The project received research and innovation funding from the National Research Council of Thailand in the fiscal year 2020. 

Thammasat University Research Unit in History and International Politics, led by Poowin Bunyavejchewin, the head of the research unit, monitors academic works and provides research-related services.

Dr. Jitsupa Kitipadung, a professor at the Innovative Learning Center of Srinakharinwirot University, together with Mr. Watunyu Jaiborisudhi, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, have published a research article titled 'Problems and Recommendations Regarding Human Resource Development Within The OTOP Project: A Case Study of Herbal Cosmetics Entrepreneurs' in Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences Studies (HASSS) Volume 21, Number 2 (May-August), 2021. This journal is indexed in the Scopus database. 

Associate Professor Dr. Pongphisoot Busbarat, a faculty member in the Faculty of Political Science at Chulalongkorn University, collaborated with Mr. Poowin Bunyavejchewin, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, and Dr. Thapiporn Suporn, a faculty member at the Khon Kaen University International College, have published a research article titled 'China and Mekong regionalism: A reappraisal of the formation of Lancang -Mekong Cooperation' in Asian Politics & Policy, Volume 24, Issue 2 (2021), with the DOI: 10.1111/aspp.12575. This journal is indexed in the Scopus database. 

The Research Division of the Institute of East Asian Studies collaborated with Thammasat University Research Unit in History and International Politics to organize a Knowledge Management event on the topic of 'Mega-Journals.' The event featured Mr. Poowin Bunyavejchewin as a speaker and took place on March 29, 2021, at the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University (Rangsit Campus). 

Mr. Poowin Bunyavejchewin, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, collaborated with Miss Ketsarin Sirichuanjun from Institute for Urban Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Disease Control, to publish a research article titled 'How Regime Type and Governance Quality Affect Policy Responses to COVID-19: A Preliminary Analysis' in Heliyon, Volume 7, Issue 2, 2021.

The Institute of East Asian Studies extends congratulations to Dr. Ampa Kaewkamkong, a professional researcher of the institute, on the occasion of receiving research funding from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) in the amount of 560,000 baht for the project "International collaboration policy for driving education towards ASEAN Community: A case study of the School Partnership Program between Thailand and Indonesia.” 

The Institute of East Asian Studies congratulates Dr. Ampa Kaewkamkong, a professional researcher of the institute, on the occasion of being appointed as a consultant for the project "Community Rights in Water Resources Allocation by Peaceful Means: Case Studies on the Nan Basin of Northern and the Chii Basin of Northeastern Thailand." The project is funded with a budget of 1,120,600 Baht by Office of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand. 

The Institute of East Asian Studies extends its congratulations to Ms. Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a researcher of the institute, on the occasion of receiving research funding from the Korea Foundation. The grant is awarded to conduct research on the topic " A SWOT Analysis of International Cooperation in Smart City Development between South Korea and Thailand: Perspectives from Thailand " with a funding amount of USD 16,000. 

The Institute of East Asian Studies has received budget support and official recognition for the establishment of the "Thammasat University Research Unit in History and International Politics" from Thammasat University for the fiscal year 2021. The unit is headed by Mr. Poowin Bunyavejchewin, a professional researcher of the institute.

Researchers from the Institute of East Asian Studies participated in the Research Capacity Development Program for the year 2020 on September 8, 2020, from 09:00 a.m. to 04:30 p.m. at the Kukrit Pramoj Seminar Room, Thai Khadi Research Institute, Thammasat University, Tha PraChan Campus. The event was organized by the Thai Khadi Research Institute. 

The research project on "Economic and Social Development for Thailand 4.0: New Challenges, Adjustment and Policy Recommendations" is led by Associate Professor Hongpha Subboonrueng. 


This research is funded by the Research Fund of Thammasat University. 

Mr. Poowin Bunyavejchewin, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, participated as a lecturer in the Research Seminar on the topic "The United States and Politics in Mekong." The event took place on February 27, 2020, at Room PSB 1309, Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Chiang Mai University. 

Researchers from Institute of East Asian Studies collaborated to gather opinions in the rolling of the strategic plan and the dissemination of operational plan for the year 2020. The event took place on February 18, 2020, at the Phaisith Phipatanakuls Seminar Room, Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University (Rangsit Campus). 

Miss Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a researcher from the Institute of East Asian Studies, presented an academic paper titled "Seoul-Bangkok Sister-City Relations: Seoul's Economic Motives" at the LATU International Conference under the theme "Understanding of Korean Studies." The conference took place on January 15, 2020, at the Rimnam Room, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University (Tha PhraChan Campus). 

On February 25, 2020, the executives and researchers of the Institute of East Asian Studies, led by Associate Professor Dr. Sitthiphon Kruarattikan, the Director of the Institute, engaged in discussions, exchanges, and networking with the research faculty from the International Health Policy Program, Ministry of Public Health. This took place at the 3rd floor of the Warehouse Building, International Health Policy Program.



On February 24, 2020, the research faculty of the Institute of East Asian Studies, led by Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, Assistant Director for Research Affairs, engaged in discussions, exchanges, and learning while building academic networks with scholars from the Trade, Investment, and Innovation Division, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), led by Dr. Witada Anukoonwattaka. This took place at the Secretariat Building, UNESCAP 

Miss Nirinthorn Mesupnikom, a practitioner researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, presented an academic paper titled "Fukuoka’s Model for International Activities in Thailand: Lessons for Regional Major Cities" at the 18th Annual International Conference on Japanese Studies themed "Revisiting Southeast Asia-Japan Relations." The conference was organized by Ateneo de Manila University in collaboration with Ateneo de Davao University and took place from January 31 to February 1, 2020, in Davao City, Philippines.

Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, presented a research paper titled "Circumstances, Problems, and the Environment Conducive to Educational Management of Local Administrative Organizations: A Comparative Study between Thailand and South Korea" at the First Biennial Comparative Education Society of Cambodia (CESCAM) conference on the theme "Education for Shared Community and Prosperity." The conference was organized by the Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI) and took place on December 6-7, 2019, in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The presentation received funding to support the presentation of academic work, creative works, and innovative inventions abroad for the fiscal year 2020 from Thammasat University. 

Dr. Ampa Kaewkumkong, a professional researcher at the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, presented a research paper titled "Observations From The Place-Based Studies Of Emerging Border School Policy Implementation Between Thailand And Cambodia" at The Third International Conference of Southeast Asia Forum themed "Greater Bay Area & South East Asia: The Perspective under the ‘Community of Common Destiny’." The conference was organized by South China Normal University and took place on November 15-17, 2019, in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China.
