Pattern Shop

All molds start at the pattern shop where it is designed and perfected. Patterns need to take into account measurements for metal contractions, distortions in cooling process and machining allowances.

First it is designed on a computer system with a program like Solidworks.

Next a mock up is made of the design using a 3D printer, 3 point CNC mill or 5 point CNC mill.

Then the pattern is painted, sealed or put together to go take on a mold.

Patterns can be made out styrofoam, plastic or wood. Different materials give different qualities as far as number of molds you can make with one pattern.
