Early Entrance

Process: 

The Iowa Acceleration Scale (IAS)  is used by the team.

Parent(s) should complete the Early Entrance Referral and Permission to Test Forms. They are  available in your district or our ESC  form is available here.  Recommended by March 30th.

Please email or send the form to the Gifted Coordinator/Building Principal for the district.  This will begin the process of collecting the information that is required of the IAS. 

When the collection is complete, the principal will schedule a meeting to go over the IAS with the team, which includes the parents.  The team  makes a recommendation to accelerate to Kindergarten or  wait.  Acceleration to Kindergarten is accompanied by a Written Acceleration Plan (WAP) with a transition period built in--typically the first 9 weeks.  

During the process, it is a good idea to move forward with Pre-K registration plans as the safety net.
